Great Machine - Great Price Jan 07, 2010 I purchased this elliptical machine for my husband because I had read several reviews that were quite favorable. I have not been disappointed by the machine, although I AM disappointed with how little my husband has used it. The item is quite heavy, so was difficult for us to get to the second floor of our house. Even though we brought it up piece by piece, the main piece was the part that we struggled with. We ended up doing some damage to our wall as we pushed and shoved the thing up the stairs. Assembly was not hard at all. I had read the warnings by others who said to pay close attention to the instructions, so I did. Everything went together very well. The only critisizm I have is that there is a decorative sleeve that needs to be put over the neck of the machine before other parts are assembled and there was nothing in the instructions about this sleeve. We found it in the box after we had assembled the entire machine and then had to take apart most of what we had done to get this sleeve on. Look for the sleeve before you put anything together and put that on FIRST.
The machine works like a champ, when it is used. It is extremely quiet and runs very smoothly. It is also very sturdy. There are many handy features. All in all, I am quite please with this purchase. With the $100 credit from Amazon.com, I paid just $1,700. It was listed at a much higher price on the company web site and in Consumer Reports magazine.

High Quality but Arm Movement Uncomfortable (I'm 5'6") Dec 06, 2009 I bought this machine after reading the Consumer Report ratings. I am a regular user of ellipticals at my gym and I really like the Life Fitness machines they have there but they were too big for my space, so I went for the Diamondback.
This is a very well made machine and I love the incline feature ... but at 5'6" and with long arms I find that the arms are uncomfortably far away and if I work out using them my back and neck end up aching. Now, one of the reasons I mix the elliptical into my running routine is to give my arms a bit of a workout, so not being able to use them is a bit sad for me. If you are significantly taller than 5'6" I would highly recommend this machine.
As mentioned in other reviews, assembly isn't that easy - but I was able to do it by myself with a bit of time. Although something in the electrical wires must be a bit loose as sometimes I have to tap (okay hit) the control panel to get it to turn on and I fear that sooner or later I'm going to have to take the whole thing apart to fix this which would be a pain.
My final word of caution is that this is large and heavy which is one of the reasons why it feels so solid when you use it but it is a challenge to move - especially upstairs. Even in it's unassembled state the main part of the unit is HUGE. I had two 200+ guys moving mine for me and they still dropped it and dented my wood floor.

One star deduction for assembly instructions Dec 01, 2009 Everything's great about this piece of equipment except for the miserably inadequate assembly instructions. Wow -- it's sad when the Cautions and Warnings are more comprehensive . . .
Great Product Oct 27, 2009 I'm not going to say a lot. It's a great product. It's super quiet, you barely hear it at all....the microwave is way louder than this machine. The programs are great. The workouts are great. Just buy it.

Smooth and Quiet Oct 17, 2009 This machine is well worth the money. It is very quiet and does not wobble when you use it. The stride length is perfect for my 5'4" frame. The instructions could have been written better, but if you follow them closely and fill in the blanks yourself, you will complete it in about 45 min to an hour- just read ahead a few steps.
