 Great Starter SetJun 20, 2008
I bought this so I would have something to add to my workouts without having to deal with the gym. These are very nice weights with an alright stand. Well worth it.

I checked the prices at 6 different stores and the price for the dumbbells alone was $4 more than I paid here for the dumbbells and the rack. I plan on getting the 30 and 35 pound dumbbells at the store with the best price.
Even after all the reviews here, they still ship with no instructions and in a box that disintegrates during shipping. My square box was actually completely wrapped in packing tape and then put into another big brown box during shipment. I'm surprised they arrived safely.

The set of dumbbells arrived in just a few days. Both of the boxes were torn and held together mostly by the nylon strapping and packing tape, but nothing was damaged. The stand is quite sturdy, but no instructions were included for setup--it still took only about fifteen to bolt the steel pieces together. The dumbbells themselves are the real deal, solid feel and the rubber is cleanly molded. The rubber off-gased for some three weeks before the chemical odor finally subdued. Otherwise, we are pleased with the price and quality of these dumbells.

These are a very good deal, great price-per-pound, and they are perfectly nice dumbbells. The packaging was in pretty rough shape when they got here, and one has some permanent scuff marks on the rubber (but who cares, they are dumbbells!), but the rack was not too bad to put together (according to my husband, who did it), and sturdy enough. Nice compact footprint, so it fits nicely in my limited area in the basement, I am very happy with these.

This set is just right. Sturdy stand, good weights, etc. Like others, I thought instructions on assembling the stand would have been nice, but it's pretty straight forward. I'm very happy with the buy.
