Just Perfect Jul 15, 2010 This heart rate monitor was just what I needed. It's easy to use and effective. I suppose it doesn't have as many extra features as some of the higher end models, but it's just what I need for my low-impact workouts. I was afraid the watch itself was going to be too big (I'm a woman with fairly small wrists) but it fits well. I'm quite satisfied with this product.

Dead on arrival Jun 09, 2010 This item was ordered and delivered from J&R. It arrived in a sealed plastic case, needing a box-cutter to open. It was totally non-functional. I do not blame the retailer. It is not their job to inspect every item before shipping, difficult as it is to see the display in the package. I thought pushing the button would start the clock (and HR monitor) but it was dead. I have arranged for a refund from the shipper. But beware of buying this product.
Decent HRM for a good price - why complain? Jun 01, 2010 I originally wanted a super expensive GPS-capable heart rate monitor that would measure my distance, too, but with that sort of technology, you're talking $300 to $400. Am I Lance Armstrong? No. I decided on this one against my better judgement (I don't usually like to buy the cheapest thing available because there's always a reason it's so cheap), but I have to say, I'm really, really happy with it. I'm a fledgling triathlete and I wanted something that would help me maintain a reasonable pace instead of going on an adrenaline binge for 20 minutes and then passing out. I worried initially about the chest band, but I can tuck it inside the bottom of my sports bra and it stays in there just fine. The sweat keeps it moist enough to keep a consistent read. I have small wrists and I hate wearing watches because I think I look like a dork, but this one keeps the dorkiness to a minimum. It's small and not flashy. I've been able to improve my times in my runs and swims, but I haven't taken it into the pool yet. It's supposed to be water resistant to 50m, but who wants to deal with the company if it does die? I'd rather wait until it needs a new battery.
That's the other thing - for $50 on this one compared to $300 for the higher end models, who cares if it only lasts 2 years? I'll replace the battery when I have to, but it's not really a huge concern. I only use it when I'm exercising anyway - like I said, I look like a dork in a watch, but this one does its job just fine.
Quite pleased May 25, 2010 I'm very pleased with this watch, especially for the price. It works well, is easy to set up and to use. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the sensor was picked up by the cardio machines at the gym, so my HR would appear on the LCD screen. When I read the reviews before purchasing the watch someone mentioned that it beeps too loud. I can't say I agree. I'm not sure what too loud is. It's enough for me to notice but I've never seen anyone react to the beeping when I'm at the gym. I'm sure there's much fancier more expensive watches out there but for the price it does what it should.
