Assemble difficult because of missed place parts Apr 10, 2009 The Schwinn 430 is the Amazon best seller and had excellent reviews from 300+ purchasers but I was impressed with the Smooth Fitness CE 2.0 heavy flywheel, and I did not care for the rail system that the Schwinn used. Thought that a child could easily mangle a hand in the rail system. Also, Amazon offered another $100 discount for the Smooth Fitness CE 2.0 netting an amazing price of $499 plus free shipping.
However the assemble instruction were pathetic; bad diagrams; grammar so poor that specific instructions were ambiguous. The final straw was a wire assembled at the factory was install upside down, so the connector did not match the control unit.
Beyond assembly, it a very good machine for less than $500. It is very heavy, very stable, and the flywheel makes it very Smooth. Close to gym quality as I have seen.

Company does not stand behind warranty! Mar 05, 2009 The 1st month it preformed beautifully. It was quiet and seemed solidly built. There was only one think i disliked which is the display screen. There is simply too much to go thru before you can get to manual. All i want is to get on the machine and press up or down for resistance. The time, RPM, etc should just start counting up on its own. Not this machine!...you have to do all sorts of button pushing & turning to get there. But that's not the worst of it!...
Now after 1 year: After about 2 months it started getting noises which grew bigger and louder. There is a "bang" that comes from the flywheel with every Rev. And after 10 month there is also a "tic" that comes from the front center bar, also with every revolution. I contacted Smooth and they replied and said they contacted an indepentent company who would come fix it. That company never contacted me and Smooth's reply was that the company was "Unavailable" and he gave me a different company name and number and said that he contacted the company and told them about the problem, suggesting that I also call them directly. I waited 1 week and then called the number; it's been DISCONNECTED! Mind you, at that point it had been 5 weeks since I reported the problem. I contacted Smooth and waited 1 week before I now put my hands up and i am giving up. As of today it's been 6 weeks and i'm done with Smooth. After all this i wonder to myself if the 2 year warranty they advertise is even existant.
So - buyer be ware! The machine is still usable (hense 2 stars instead of 1) and i'll use it till it falls apart. But I should have 1 more year of warranty but i really don't.
