Great but challenging workoutFeb 11, 2008 I have been doing step aerobics at a gym for over 5 years now. Now that I have a baby, I just don't seem to have as much time to go to the gym so I've been buying a lot of dvd's to workout at home. I have the FIRM series, but I find that it's too slow paced for me and I don't like the weights. I like doing a fast paced dancey type step that's pure cardio and this is it! Christi is a really good instructor and not at all annoying. But I find this workout to be very challenging. I've gone through the move master tutorial twice and I still can't get all the moves down. This is a great workout and I'm going to keep trying because I'll get it eventually :) (hopefully). It's definitely not a beginner's workout and I find it harder to follow because everyone is facing you. In a normal gym step class, everyone including the instructor is facing the same foward direction so it's easier to follow when you are working all around the step like in this video (there's a lot of hopping and reversing). I know it doesn't make sense to shoot the video so that we end up watching the instructor's backside, but I seem to have a harder time following along. Overall, I definitely would recommend this video if you are a hard core stepper.
I didn't realize I had worked out for 45 minutes!Jan 24, 2008 This DVD is so fun that I looked down at my heart rate monitor and realized I had exercised for 45 minutes!
Christi Taylor is a fantastic teacher and her cueing is second to none. If you listen you can catch on, but it does take practice. This is not a DVD you can do the first time you see it, but I just keep moving until I catch on again. (For those with the patience, the MoveMaster is there)
I really like her brother Forrest in this one. He does not look like a fitness model (no offense Forrest), but he does keep up with the rest! He missteps every once in a while and reminds us that we can't take ourselves tooo seriously. This is fun! Don't get me wrong, this is a very professionally cues and executed DVD..Forrsest is just a fun person to watch.
This DVD will make you sweat and you will stay interested. A keeper!!
Another great ChristiJan 23, 2008 Yes...it is a tricky one to master, but if you take the time to do it - you will have SO much fun working out. I made it my goal to get this routine down, and I look forward to my morning workout with Christi. I highly recommend any Christi Taylor.
Good StuffJan 15, 2008 All I can say is if you want to work up one heck of a sweat this is for you! Fun, Fast Paced, Creative and fun music! Routines are challenging but there are 2 people in the video doing the simplified version which is nice! Buy it, you wont be disappointed!
Too hard to be funJan 11, 2008 I bought this DVD after reading the other reviews. I love step aerobics and have been doing it at gyms and at home for over 20 years. Even though I like a fast pace, alot of chorography and good music, this video is just too much. By the time you figure out a move you're on to the next one. Christi talks so fast and the music is so loud you can hardly understand what she is trying to say. She often goes into the advanced/optional part of a move before you have a chance to feel comfortable with the basic move. Even if you try the review at the end of the DVD she doesn't slow it down enough for you to get any real practice in. I tried it several times before I ended up using my old favs again.
