5Don't spend the big dollars...get this one instead.Apr 10, 2008
I bought this online...however not through Amazon... I searched google and found it cheaper. $120 including shipping delivered to my door. I was initially looking at the Total gym, Total Trainer, and the Body Rail. All far too much money for what you get here. It took fifteen min to assemble. (Three bolts to tighten.) It is very meaty and seems quite durable. My Father-in-law has the Total Gym. I've used his three/four times and this is just as good for about a quarter the cost. Don't waste the money on anything else. (No..I don't work for the company, just a dollar wise consumer spreading the good word.)

4good workMar 27, 2008
Nice piece and came preassembled with minor work. i would have loved if you could fold this easily for storage purpose. takes space.

5Great workout for the money!Mar 18, 2008
I purchased this product a couple of weeks ago, then got sick and couldnt use it this was killing me.When I was finally able to put it together, which was a cinch by the way, WOW what a great work out you get from this machine. I am on it almost 7 days a week for about 20 to 45 min. The total gym tones and builds muscle very well. Thanks to M.Jones for his review which made my decision in buying this over the total gym and almost over paying for that unit! I enjoy getting on this machine and I find myself having a lot of fun with it.It doesnt feel like excercise until you get off and your muscles are burning and aching. Save your self money and enjoy excercising!!
Hope this helps.

3Beware of Parts Replacement PricingFeb 28, 2008
This is a decent workout machine for the price, however, the company's parts replacement pricing is outrageous! I bought a used system that was in new condition other than needing two small parts replaced. I was blown away when I called the company to order these parts and learned that they wanted $65.96 for EACH of them! This is more than they sell a new unit for which consists of 127 parts total. This is not a consumer friendly policy nor is it or environmentally responsible.

5This is truly a 5-star piece of equipment!Feb 27, 2008
I did a lot of research online before NOT buying the Total Gym Chuck Norris model, which is now up to $1700 on their website. When I found the Total Body Works 5000, I was sure it would be a waste of money. But I read review after review saying positive things about it, so I figured, worst that can happen is I end up donating it. I can clearly say now, after 3 solid workouts, the TBW will stay in my workout routine for a long time. I do 4 upper body exercises & 4 lower body, 15 reps, 3 sets each. I was so sore the first week I literally couldn't lift my arms up to brush my hair.

It's actually fun, very challenging (I'm a 5'2" female), and a great machine for toning. That being said, I can see how if you're a power-lifter type of guy, it might not be a muscle builder. I've worked out for years though, and I have sore muscles now in places that I never even knew existed!

The set-up was extremely easy, especially after I read concerns about the knob to pull the board out. Entire setup, from getting out of box to working, took about 20 minutes.

Only thing I would comment negatively on is the lack of exercises it shows on the single poster. I went to a few other sites for similar equipment, cut & pasted their exercises, and printed them out on card stock. So I pull out my exercises for the day, and have them visually in front of me. You can definitely get creative as to the exercises you can do.

Being female, the upper body exercises are extremely challenging for me, so I use it on the lowest level. But for lower body, I find I need the highest resistance, plus a couple of the resistance cables. So what I do is my upper body first, with the machine almost fully extended. Then I put it in highest resistance, do my lower body, and it's ready to go back against the wall where I store it. No, it doesn't store up as neatly as it could, just like other reviewers have said. I have it against one wall, and pull it to the center of the room for use.

I can't believe this thing only cost around a hundred bucks!
